Description

You will manage and optimize large-scale database environments across Azure and on-premises infrastructure.

This role is remote.

Responsibilities

• Configure and manage Azure SQL Databases, Managed Instances, Cosmos DB, and Azure Database for MySQL/PostgreSQL.
• Lead migrations of on-premises databases to Azure with minimal downtime.
• Design and support high availability solutions including Always-On Availability Groups, geo-replication, and failover clusters.
• Implement automated backup strategies, disaster recovery plans, and security policies for encryption and access control.
• Monitor database health and performance using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and SQL Analytics.

Required Skills

• 10+ years of on-premises SQL Server database administration in large enterprise environments.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with SQL Server in Azure (Azure SQL, Managed Instances, or SQL VMs).
• Expertise in Always-On Availability Groups, failover clustering, and DR/HA strategies.
• Advanced proficiency in Azure SQL Database, SQL Managed Instances, Azure Databricks, Cosmos DB, Power BI, and Fabric.
• Strong performance tuning, query optimization, and index management skills.
• Experience securing databases to meet HIPAA, SOC, PCI, and PII compliance standards.
• Ability to apply updates, patches, and hotfixes to cloud and on-premises systems.

Preferred Skills

• Familiarity with AWS database services including Amazon Aurora (SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL), Oracle, and Amazon EMR.
• Basic knowledge of GCP services including Cloud SQL, Cloud Spanner, Bigtable, and BigQuery.
