Description

You will own the health and evolution of the database infrastructure.

This role is remote.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and resolve high-priority performance or stability issues on the primary PostgreSQL instance.
• Review DBaaS providers and configurations, evaluating hosting strategy for scaling needs and recommending migration or optimization.
• Audit backup protocols and restoration strategies to ensure zero-data-loss integrity.
• Audit fleet DB usage, identifying missing/redundant indexes and implementing query tuning while optimizing schema design.
• Provide a 'State of the Union' report detailing database health, technical debt, and architectural improvements.

Required Skills

• 8+ years of professional experience in database engineering.
• Deep expertise with PostgreSQL.
• Experience with DBaaS providers and hosting strategies.
• Strong background in query tuning and index optimization.
• Knowledge of backup protocols and restoration strategies.
• Ability to design and optimize schema structures.
• Strong analytical skills for auditing database usage.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with multi-node database architectures.
• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools for database management.
