Description

You will manage and support DB2 z/OS production systems within a sysplex data-sharing environment. You will maintain database objects, execute performance tuning for SQL queries and stored procedures, and implement backup and recovery strategies. You will collaborate with developers to promote best practices during application design and mentor junior staff on complex technical issues. This role requires rotating 24x7 on-call support.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and create database objects including tables, columns, and indexes.
• Execute performance tuning for SQL queries, indexing, stored procedures, and triggers to resolve concurrency issues.
• Implement database backup and recovery strategies and schedule maintenance utilities.
• Collaborate with business analysts and developers to promote DB2 best practices during application design.
• Mentor junior DBAs and application developers on complex technical issues.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of experience in a senior DBA role supporting DB2 (version 9 or higher) production systems.
• Expertise in DB2 version 11 or 12 on the z/OS platform.
• Proficiency with logical and physical data modeling design concepts.
• Experience with table partitioning and maintaining very large databases.
• Strong SQL skills and performance tuning experience.
• Knowledge of third-party tools including Omegamon, IBM DB2 Admin, BMC, CDB, and CA.
• Ability to plan and execute projects to completion.

Preferred Skills

• IBM Certification.
