Design and model power distribution, protection, and control systems for offshore drilling rig and fleet operations.
Responsibilities
Design engine generator controls for diesel power generation plants, managing active and reactive power load sharing.
Develop drilling and marine process control systems, network architecture, and marine monitoring systems including F&G, ESD, and CCTV.
Perform electrical design reviews for power, control, monitoring, and communication systems to ensure compliance with API, IADC, IEEE, and IEC standards.
Develop rig-specific test procedures for electrical power and control system modifications.
Review and troubleshoot PLC logic and instructions to improve operational efficiency and safety.
Required Skills
8+ years of experience in power and control system hardware engineering for rig or fleet operations.
Expertise in power generation control systems, power distribution, protection systems, and power drive systems on offshore rigs.
Experience with drilling, BOP, ESD, and rig position control systems such as jacking, mooring, thruster controls, and dynamic positioning.
Knowledge of PLC logic, VFD configuration, and field device wiring including sensors, flowmeters, and PID controllers.
Proficiency with Modbus and TCP/IP communication protocols.
Working knowledge of IP and Hazardous Area Plans on drilling rigs.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, SKM Powertools or ETAP, Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Project.
Ability to perform power system analyses.
Preferred Skills
Experience with marine radio communication and pin-load monitoring/rack phase differential.
