You will lead the design and development of rugged handheld computers, mobile devices, and tablets.
Responsibilities
Own the full product development lifecycle from initial concept and detailed design through prototyping, testing, and manufacturing.
Design enclosures using plastic, sheet metal, die casting, and elastomer components.
Execute mechanical design for PCBs, keypads, and displays while ensuring IP, MIL-STD, ATEX, NEMA, or UL compliance.
Perform tolerance stack-up analysis, DFMA, DFMEA, FAI, and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
Coordinate with cross-functional teams and suppliers for prototyping and manufacturing, and manage testing for drop, shock, vibration, tumble, and chemical exposure.
Required Skills
5+ years of experience in the design and development of rugged handheld devices.
Expertise in Creo for solid and surface modeling, sheet metal, assembly, detailing, top-down design, and skeleton models.
Proficiency in Windchill.
Hands-on experience with DFM, DFA, and design calculations for plastic, die casting, and sheet metal.
Experience supporting PCB layout and working with design validation teams for FEA and CFD.
Knowledge of ruggedization standards including IEC, MIL-STD, ATEX, and UL.
Ability to troubleshoot failures during environmental and mechanical testing.
B.E. or B.Tech in Mechanical, Product Design, or Polymer engineering, or a relevant Diploma/Post-Diploma in Product or Tool Design.
