Description

You will own the modernization and migration of Java/J2EE applications to the AWS cloud.

This role is remote.

Responsibilities

• Lead migration execution by developing plans for replatforming or refactoring legacy Java applications.
• Design and implement migration patterns, reusable components, and reference code to support team transitions.
• Rewrite and optimize Java code to integrate with AWS services, breaking down monoliths into microservices.
• Containerize applications using Docker and deploy to ECS or EKS, managing infrastructure via IaC tools.
• Collaborate with SCRUM teams and stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of migration milestones.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of hands-on experience migrating applications onto the AWS platform.
• Strong Java programming skills with experience in J2EE frameworks like Spring, Hibernate, and JSF.
• Expertise in containerization technologies including Docker and Kubernetes.
• Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or SAM.
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for automated deployments.
• Solid understanding of AWS architecture, services (EC2, ECS, EKS, S3, RDS, Lambda, API Gateway), and cloud computing concepts.
• Knowledge of database migration strategies and distributed system troubleshooting.

Preferred Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience implementing disaster recovery mechanisms using AWS-native features.
