Description

You will own the planning, design, and implementation of Linux systems engineering for the Charter Datacenter. Your work ensures platform stability through rigorous hardening, testing, and optimization.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement platform enhancements and system improvements for Linux infrastructure.
• Build and optimize Linux file systems and create system images for publication to repository systems like Artifactory.
• Execute systems engineering tasks including troubleshooting, testing, and applying CIS Workbench hardening standards.
• Drive the identification and adoption of development best practices and automation workflows.

Required Skills

• 8+ years of experience in UNIX/Linux engineering and administration.
• Deep expertise in RPM and Debian Linux engineering, including proficiency with ip, dnf, nmcli, apt, ubiquity, debian installer, and ufw.
• Automation and scripting proficiency in Perl, Bash, and Python.
• Hands-on experience with vCenter, VMware ovftool, HashiCorp Vault, and Packer.
• Experience with GitLab, including creating workflows and CI/CD pipelines.
• Ability to read and write YAML and JSON files.
• Experience with Git, including writing and reviewing pull/merge requests.
• Knowledge of Linux Test Project and performance tuning.
• Mandatory experience with LDAP and API-driven configuration.

Preferred Skills

• Red Hat Certified System Administrator certification.
• Experience with Test Driven Development (TDD).
