You will lead the planning, design, development, and implementation of Linux systems engineering for the Charter Datacenter.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement platform enhancements and system improvements.
- Drive the identification and adoption of development best practices.
- Execute Linux systems engineering tasks including troubleshooting, testing, and hardening.
- Build and optimize Linux file-systems.
- Create Linux system images and publish them to repository systems like Artifactory.
Required Skills
- 8+ years of experience in UNIX/Linux engineering and administration.
- Deep expertise in RPM and Debian Linux engineering.
- Proficiency with RPM tools including ip, dnf, and nmcli.
- Experience with apt, ubiquity, debian installer, and ufw.
- Automation and scripting proficiency in Perl, Bash, and Python.
- Hands-on experience with vCenter, VMware ovftool, HashiCorp Vault, and Packer.
- Experience with GitLab, including creating workflows and CI/CD pipelines.
- Ability to read and write YAML and JSON files.
- Experience with Git, including writing and reviewing pull/merge requests.
- Knowledge of CIS Workbench hardening, Linux Test Project, and performance tuning.
Preferred Skills
- Red Hat Certified System Administrator certification.
- Experience with Test Driven Development (TDD).
- Mandatory experience with LDAP and API-driven configuration.
