Description

You will lead the planning, design, development, and implementation of Linux systems engineering for the Charter Datacenter.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement platform enhancements and system improvements.
  • Drive the identification and adoption of development best practices.
  • Execute Linux systems engineering tasks including troubleshooting, testing, and hardening.
  • Build and optimize Linux file-systems.
  • Create Linux system images and publish them to repository systems like Artifactory.

Required Skills

  • 8+ years of experience in UNIX/Linux engineering and administration.
  • Deep expertise in RPM and Debian Linux engineering.
  • Proficiency with RPM tools including ip, dnf, and nmcli.
  • Experience with apt, ubiquity, debian installer, and ufw.
  • Automation and scripting proficiency in Perl, Bash, and Python.
  • Hands-on experience with vCenter, VMware ovftool, HashiCorp Vault, and Packer.
  • Experience with GitLab, including creating workflows and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Ability to read and write YAML and JSON files.
  • Experience with Git, including writing and reviewing pull/merge requests.
  • Knowledge of CIS Workbench hardening, Linux Test Project, and performance tuning.

Preferred Skills

  • Red Hat Certified System Administrator certification.
  • Experience with Test Driven Development (TDD).
  • Mandatory experience with LDAP and API-driven configuration.
