Description

You will lead the enhancement, maintenance, and modernization of enterprise-level mainframe applications and legacy systems.

This role is remote.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL and IMS DB/DC.
• Write, manage, and troubleshoot JCL scripts for batch processing and production job execution.
• Support re-platforming and re-hosting initiatives using Micro Focus Enterprise Developer and Server environments.
• Conduct root cause analysis and performance tuning for legacy systems, jobs, and databases.
• Provide technical mentorship to junior developers and conduct peer code reviews.

Required Skills

• 10+ years of hands-on experience in mainframe application development and support.
• Expertise in COBOL (batch and online) and IMS DB/DC.
• Advanced JCL scripting for batch processing.
• Proficiency with TSO/ISPF, Panvalet, and EZTrieve.
• Experience with Micro Focus Enterprise Developer and Server.
• Hands-on knowledge of VSAM, GDG, and sequential datasets.
• Experience with version control and change management tools such as Endevor, Changeman, or ISPW.
• Proficiency in debugging tools like Xpediter or File-AID.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline.

Preferred Skills

• Exposure to CICS, DB2, or REXX scripting.
• Experience with large-scale system migration, re-hosting, or MQSeries middleware.
• Knowledge of Agile, DevOps for legacy environments, and SDLC best practices.
