Description

Own the development, maintenance, and modernization of legacy COBOL-based mainframe applications.

This role is on-site.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain COBOL applications and JCL jobs for batch processing.
• Perform code screening, analysis, and reverse engineering to identify dependencies and refactoring opportunities.
• Manage job automation and monitoring using CCS, Control-M, or similar scheduling tools.
• Troubleshoot production issues, identify root causes, and implement fixes while ensuring security and performance standards.
• Support QA/UAT cycles, document technical specifications, and collaborate on integration with distributed systems or APIs.

Required Skills

• 12+ years of experience in Mainframe development.
• Strong hands-on proficiency with COBOL and JCL.
• Experience with DB2, CICS transaction processing, and VSAM utilities.
• Proven experience in code analysis, reverse engineering, and refactoring legacy systems.
• Familiarity with CCS, Control-M, or enterprise job scheduling tools.
• Ability to work independently and troubleshoot high-volume transaction systems.

Preferred Skills

• Basic understanding of system integration concepts (APIs, middleware, web services).
• Exposure to mainframe modernization initiatives or distributed systems.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices for mainframe environments.
