Description

You will design, develop, and maintain COBOL-based mainframe applications while leading code analysis and modernization efforts. This role requires deep expertise in legacy system maintenance, batch processing, and integration with distributed systems.

This role is on-site.

Responsibilities

• Perform code screening, analysis, and reverse engineering of existing applications to identify dependencies and inefficiencies.
• Design, develop, and maintain COBOL applications, including JCL jobs for batch processing and scheduling workflows.
• Manage job automation and monitoring using CCS, Control-M, or similar enterprise scheduling tools.
• Troubleshoot production issues, identify root causes, and implement fixes while ensuring adherence to coding standards and security practices.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support integration with distributed systems or APIs and support QA/UAT cycles.

Required Skills

• 8+ years of experience in Mainframe development.
• Strong hands-on experience with COBOL and JCL.
• Proficiency with mainframe utilities including VSAM, DB2, and CICS.
• Experience with job scheduling tools such as CCS or Control-M.
• Proven experience in code analysis, reverse engineering, and refactoring legacy systems.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills for high-volume transaction systems.
• Ability to work independently and within team-oriented environments.

Preferred Skills

• Basic understanding of system integration concepts including APIs, middleware, and web services.
• Exposure to mainframe modernization initiatives or distributed systems.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices for mainframe environments.
