Description

You will own the development, maintenance, and modernization of legacy COBOL-based mainframe applications, ensuring high availability and efficient batch processing workflows.

This role is on-site.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain COBOL applications, including JCL jobs for batch processing and scheduling.
• Perform code screening and reverse engineering to identify dependencies, inefficiencies, and refactoring opportunities in legacy systems.
• Manage job automation and monitoring using CCS, Control-M, or similar enterprise scheduling tools.
• Troubleshoot production issues, identify root causes, and implement fixes while adhering to coding and security standards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support integration with distributed systems, APIs, and middleware.

Required Skills

• 8+ years of experience in Mainframe development.
• Strong hands-on proficiency with COBOL and JCL (Job Control Language).
• Experience with mainframe utilities including VSAM, DB2, and CICS transaction processing.
• Proven experience in code analysis, reverse engineering, and refactoring legacy systems.
• Experience with CCS, Control-M, or similar job scheduling and automation tools.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills for high-volume transaction systems.
• Familiarity with batch processing workflows and system integration concepts.

Preferred Skills

• Exposure to mainframe modernization initiatives and migration to distributed systems or cloud integration.
• Knowledge of DevOps practices for mainframe environments.
• Understanding of APIs, web services, and middleware integration.
