Description

Lead mainframe modernization efforts by defining target architectures and managing development teams.

This role is remote.

Responsibilities

• Analyze legacy AS-IS systems to define target architectures for rewrite, rehost, or replace strategies.
• Design current state, target state, and integration architectures for complex scenarios.
• Develop technical deliverables, roadmaps, and accurate estimations for modernization projects.
• Lead development teams while providing hands-on architectural guidance and support.
• Build prototypes, proofs of concept, and custom automation tools using REXX or Python.

Required Skills

• 10+ years of experience in legacy system analysis and modernization.
• Expert proficiency in COBOL and IDEAL.
• Strong experience with CA-Datacom and DB2.
• Hands-on knowledge of CICS.
• Proficiency with debugging tools such as Xpediter and dump analysis.
• Ability to visualize to-be solutions and review technical design documents.
• Programming skills in REXX or Python for tool development and automation.

Preferred Skills

• Knowledge of Assembler.
• Experience with rehosting platforms like Microfocus, Heirloom, or TmaxSoft.
