Description

Drive the design and validation of plastic and metal injection molded components from concept through production.

Responsibilities

• Influence new product designs by reviewing plastic and metal parts for moldability and design for manufacturability.
• Review drawing tolerances against SPI standards and collaborate with molders and toolmakers on tool design capability.
• Execute injection molding validation protocols using scientific molding principles, including viscosity, gate freeze, and CPK studies.
• Manage tool qualification schedules, maintain the Master Mold List, and coordinate with suppliers for tool maintenance and replacement.
• Analyze molding validation data and design of experiments to implement corrective actions for out-of-spec dimensions.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of experience in mold design, procurement, and plastics/metal processing.
• Deep expertise in plastic and metal injection molding and scientific molding practices.
• Proficiency in SOLIDWORKS and various CAD programs.
• Strong technical project management skills, including planning and capital budgets for mold procurement.
• Experience with PPAP requirements and validation reporting.
• Advanced proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25% for supplier visits and tool validations.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in FDA regulated quality environments, GMP, and ISO standards.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and DFMA.
