About the role

This is a MongoDB-first role. Our client, a large US insurance and financial services company, is moving data from relational databases into MongoDB. You will own the MongoDB side: design the document model, migrate the data from the existing databases into MongoDB, and integrate MongoDB with the client's existing Java / Spring Boot backend.

Responsibilities

• Design MongoDB collections, document schemas (embed vs reference), indexes and aggregation pipelines.
• Plan and run data migrations from Oracle, SQL Server, DB2 or PostgreSQL into MongoDB: data mapping, transformation, bulk load, validation, reconciliation and cutover.
• Integrate MongoDB with the existing Spring Boot services (Spring Data MongoDB / MongoDB Java driver) so the application keeps working during and after the migration.
• Tune MongoDB performance: explain plans, index strategy, replica sets and sharding.
• Troubleshoot data and integration issues with architects, developers and business teams.

Must have

• MongoDB as your primary skill: hands-on schema design, indexing, aggregation and performance tuning in recent projects.
• At least one real project migrating data from another database into MongoDB.
• Integrating MongoDB with Java / Spring Boot applications.

Nice to have

• MongoDB certification (Developer or DBA), MongoDB Atlas.
• Migration tools such as Relational Migrator, mongoimport / mongorestore, Kafka or CDC pipelines.
• AWS and CI/CD.

Not a fit

• Full-stack or backend Java developers who used MongoDB only as an application database
