Description

You will lead the migration of legacy VB4 applications to modern .NET Core solutions.

Responsibilities

• Analyze existing VB4 architecture to identify dependencies and technical risks.
• Develop and execute a migration strategy to upgrade VB4 code to .NET Core while maintaining functionality.
• Refactor and rewrite legacy code to meet modern development standards.
• Configure ODBC connections to ensure database communication remains intact.
• Document the migration process, including technical specifications and architectural changes.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of software development experience.
• Expertise in Visual Basic 4/6 and VB.NET.
• Strong experience with .NET Core 3.1, 5, 6, or 7.
• Experience with desktop application development and deployment.
• Proficiency with ODBC drivers and database connections.
• Knowledge of Windows environments and shared network drives.
• Experience using migration tools like Visual Basic Upgrade Companion (VBUC) or Visual Studio Migration Wizard.
• Ability to modernize legacy code using modern design patterns.
