Description

You will architect and manage highly available, fault-tolerant cloud-based NoSQL database systems. This role is remote.

Responsibilities

• Design and architect new cloud-based databases and redesign existing distributed systems.
• Investigate root causes of complex problems across distributed architectures.
• Optimize database client usage through query tuning and data model evolution.
• Automate database infrastructure and build self-service tools for engineering teams.
• Participate in 24/7 on-call rotations to support production environments.

Required Skills

• 8+ years of experience building production database systems handling terabytes of data.
• Hands-on experience configuring and managing at least two of Cassandra, Couchbase, Redis, or MongoDB at scale.
• Experience managing database systems in hybrid cloud environments (on-prem and public cloud).
• Proficiency with automation frameworks including Ansible, Terraform, and Git pipelines.
• Experience with distributed persistent systems and asynchronous messaging.
• Ability to tune distributed systems for performance under high traffic volumes.
• Experience managing changes, incidents, and documentation via Jira.
• Proven ability to work effectively in a fully remote environment.

Preferred Skills

• AWS or Google Cloud Platform (GCP) certifications.
