Job Summary
STAFFXPERT LLC is seeking a Senior Platform Systems Engineer on behalf of our client in San Diego, CA to help architect, integrate, and evolve next-generation AI and database infrastructure platforms for enterprise and hyperscale data center environments.
This role offers an opportunity to work across systems engineering, power and thermal architecture, compute, storage, networking, firmware, manufacturing, and data center infrastructure. The ideal candidate brings strong systems-level thinking and the ability to lead complex technical initiatives across multiple engineering disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
Lead system-level design, integration, validation, and troubleshooting of compute, storage, networking, power, and thermal infrastructure.
Define and validate platform-level power architecture, redundancy strategies, and thermal requirements.
Partner with hardware, firmware, manufacturing, product, and systems engineering teams to develop and productionize new platform capabilities.
Lead complex root-cause analysis across hardware, firmware, operating systems, networking, storage, power, and thermal domains.
Drive platform manufacturability, factory readiness, production validation, and deployment standards.
Develop validation, characterization, diagnostics, and automation tools using Python, Bash, and/or C.
Support qualification and lifecycle management of power supplies, PDUs, breakers, cabling, cooling systems, and infrastructure components.
Define and validate firmware configurations, deployment settings, and manufacturing handoff requirements.
Collaborate with vendors, manufacturing partners, and field teams to resolve integration and deployment issues.
Support regulatory, EMC, and safety compliance activities for enterprise data center deployments.
Contribute to high-density AI/GPU infrastructure initiatives, including advanced air- and liquid-cooled systems.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
8+ years of experience in systems engineering, platform engineering, infrastructure engineering, or a related technical field.
Strong systems engineering experience across server, storage, networking, or infrastructure platforms.
Experience with data center power systems, redundancy models, and thermal design considerations.
Strong Linux and command-line experience.
Experience with system debugging and performance analysis tools such as fio, iostat, perf, sar, iperf, or `sysbench.
Proficiency in Python, Bash, C, or similar scripting/programming technologies.
Experience with firmware, BIOS, BMC/iDRAC, or large-scale system configuration.
Familiarity with high-speed networking technologies such as Ethernet or InfiniBand.
Experience with enterprise storage technologies including NVMe, RAID, distributed storage, replication, or erasure coding.
Understanding of rack-level infrastructure, including PDUs, cabling, grounding, and power distribution.
Experience supporting manufacturing, system integration, or factory deployment activities.
Ability to work across multiple technical disciplines and take ownership of complex system-level challenges.
Strong technical leadership, communication, troubleshooting, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with three-phase data center power distribution, grounding methodologies, breaker coordination, and N/N+1/2N redundancy models.
Experience with AI, GPU, or high-density compute infrastructure.
Experience with thermal characterization, cooling validation, or liquid cooling technologies.
Familiarity with data center facility interfaces and regional power standards.
Experience working with global ODM/OEM vendors and manufacturing partners.
Experience with enterprise hardware regulatory, EMC, and safety requirements.
