Description

You will lead the strategic development of products within the upholstery category, driving design from concept to market completion.

Responsibilities

  • Develop new upholstery designs by integrating current fashion trends with category leadership direction.
  • Drive strategic planning to meet category goals and adapt to shifting market changes.
  • Assess vendor technical expertise, material availability, and production capacity to ensure efficient delivery.
  • Partner with Merchant and Supply Chain teams to execute brand-right expansions and innovative product strategies.
  • Maintain fabric mill and leather tannery partnerships to create exclusive materials for cross-category use.
  • Apply value engineering techniques to maintain high design standards while managing production costs.
  • Lead and mentor junior team members while collaborating with international teams and vendors.

Required Skills

  • 6+ years of experience in upholstery product development.
  • 4+ years of experience using CAD rendering software such as Adobe, SketchUp, Rhino, 3DMax, or Keyshot.
  • Deep understanding of furniture construction and product engineering.
  • Proficiency in proactive costing and product engineering techniques.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret buyer behavior and sales trends at both category and item levels.
  • Ability to travel to Mexico, China, and Vietnam for sample work and design shows.
  • Proven ability to manage cross-functional projects independently.

Preferred Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Merchandising, International Business, or a related field.
