Senior Python Developer in Reston, VA. Own backend services, APIs, and data pipelines on AWS.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain backend services using Python, Flask, Django, or FastAPI.
• Design event-driven architectures with AWS Lambda, S3, Step Functions, and Glue.
• Develop RESTful APIs with JWT/OAuth2, versioning, and structured error handling.
• Implement data pipelines using PySpark, AWS Glue, and SQL for Redshift and RDS.
• Manage infrastructure via Terraform and GitLab CI/CD, ensuring clean, tested code.

Required Skills

• 5+ years Python development with Pandas, Boto3, and data processing libraries.
• Strong API engineering with Flask, Django, or FastAPI.
• AWS experience: Lambda, S3, EC2, ECS/Fargate, RDS, Redshift, CloudWatch.
• Automated testing with PyTest (fixtures, mocking, parameterization).
• Infrastructure as Code with Terraform and containerization with Docker.
• SQL proficiency with Postgres, Aurora, or MySQL; query optimization skills.
• Data engineering: PySpark, Glue, ETL flows, Parquet/JSON in S3.
• GitLab for version control and CI/CD pipeline development.
• Responsible use of AI tools (GitHub Copilot) for code generation and review.

Preferred Skills

• Basic Angular familiarity for backend API integration.
