Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior REXX Developer to design, develop, maintain, and optimize REXX-based applications and automation solutions in IBM mainframe environments. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in REXX programming, z/OS utilities, and JCL, along with experience integrating REXX scripts with enterprise systems and supporting mission-critical business applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain REXX programs and automation scripts.
• Develop tools and utilities to automate mainframe operations and system administration tasks.
• Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to REXX applications and batch processing.
• Integrate REXX programs with JCL, ISPF, TSO/E, SDSF, and other z/OS utilities.
• Optimize existing REXX code for performance, maintainability, and scalability.
• Collaborate with application developers, system programmers, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders.
• Perform code reviews and ensure adherence to development standards and best practices.
• Prepare technical documentation, user guides, and operational procedures.
• Support production deployments, incident resolution, and root cause analysis.
• Mentor junior developers and provide technical leadership on REXX development initiatives.
• Participate in system upgrades, migrations, and modernization projects.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 8+ years of experience in REXX development within IBM mainframe environments.
• Strong expertise in:

• Experience working with:

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with IBM System Automation or other mainframe automation tools.
• Knowledge of CLIST, Assembler, COBOL, or PL/I.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and version control systems for mainframe development.
• Experience with API integration, REST services, or modernizing legacy applications.
• Exposure to Agile or Scrum methodologies.

Nice to Have

• Experience in banking, insurance, healthcare, or other highly regulated industries.
• Knowledge of enterprise scheduling tools such as Control-M or CA-7.
• Familiarity with IBM Z Open Automation Utilities (ZOAU) and modern mainframe modernization initiatives.
