Description

You will design, build, and maintain large-scale distributed applications using Scala and functional programming paradigms.

This role is remote.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop project features using Scala and functional programming principles.
• Lead technical design reviews and peer code reviews to ensure scalability and adherence to best practices.
• Analyze platforms to provide recommendations for performance tuning and stability at the OS, library, and service levels.
• Collaborate with full stack engineers, product managers, and delivery teams to optimize high-availability, high-volume systems.
• Demonstrate project features and sub-features to client stakeholders.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of IT experience with strong expertise in Scala and functional programming.
• Experience developing distributed applications using Akka (Actor model, Akka Streams, Akka Clustering, and Akka Persistence).
• Proficiency with reactive and event-driven systems architecture.
• Hands-on experience with Play, ZIO, or CAT frameworks.
• Experience optimizing high-availability and high-volume application scenarios.
• Background in developing applications using Java and Scala/Akka systems.
• Proficiency with Kafka, Elasticsearch, and Redis.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with CI/CD tools including Git (Bitbucket), Jenkins, Jira, and Confluence.
• Knowledge of microservices platforms and OWASP secure coding practices.
