Description

Own the design, development, and maintenance of high-performance backend systems using Scala and AWS.

This role is remote.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable microservices and REST APIs using Scala, Akka, and Play.
• Apply advanced functional programming concepts including category theory, monads, and type classes to build applications.
• Utilize Scala type-level libraries such as Cats and Shapeless for strong typing and efficient concurrency.
• Deploy and manage backend infrastructure on AWS using Docker containerization.
• Conduct code reviews, troubleshoot complex issues, and optimize system performance and error handling.

Required Skills

• 8+ years of professional software development experience.
• Minimum 6 years of hands-on experience with Scala, specifically in type-level development.
• Minimum 5 years of experience with AWS services and Docker.
• Deep understanding of both object-oriented and functional programming paradigms within the JVM ecosystem.
• Proficiency with Scala frameworks Akka and Play.
• Strong experience designing and consuming REST APIs and microservices architectures.
• Clear understanding of multithreading, asynchronous processing, and data security compliance.
• Ability to write clean, maintainable code and contribute to architectural discussions.
