Description

You will provide technical leadership and coordination within a cross-organisation team of software engineers and data scientists for the Artificial Intelligence for Numerical Weather Prediction (AI4NWP) project.

Responsibilities

• Act as Scrum Master to facilitate effective agile delivery and support the project manager.
• Lead the development of technical plans and roadmaps for the FastNet capability.
• Review and refactor prototype science code to ensure efficiency, robustness, and maintainability.
• Mentor and develop team members through coaching, pair programming, and technical discussions.
• Promote coding best practices, quality assurance processes, and comprehensive documentation.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of professional experience in software engineering or related technical roles.
• Expert knowledge of Python, including testing and documentation for quality assurance.
• Expert knowledge of agile development practices, specifically the Scrum framework.
• Experience developing and deploying machine learning workflows on cloud platforms like AzureML.
• Experience working with large structured and unstructured datasets, ideally geospatial data.
• Proven ability to develop sophisticated machine learning models.
• Strong interpersonal skills to mentor, coach, and train junior team members.
• Ability to communicate technical knowledge accurately to diverse audiences.
