Description

Design and document end-to-end network architecture for next-generation In-Flight Entertainment and Connectivity (IFEC) systems.

Responsibilities

• Define and communicate clear non-functional requirements (NFRs), including architectural risks and selection rationale.
• Recommend and develop architectural design patterns and frameworks for use by development teams.
• Review existing networking designs to identify and implement improvements.
• Act as a technical leader to mentor other software engineers and architects.

Required Skills

• 10+ years of networking-related programming in Linux systems.
• 5+ years of experience with wireless, mobile, and satellite communication systems.
• 3+ years of architecture experience in complex embedded systems.
• Expertise in layer 2-7 networking design, testing, operation, and troubleshooting.
• Extensive knowledge of Linux networking, routing, and protocols including TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, LAN, WAN, VLANs, IPv4/IPv6, and TCP/UDP.
• Experience with bare-metal Kubernetes networking, including CNI, Overlay Networks, Cilium, Flannel, and Service Meshes.
• Proficiency with networking-focused operating systems such as Cumulus Linux, VyOS, openWRT, or DD-WRT.
• Experience with Cloud-provider network design and implementation using AWS or Azure.
• Deep understanding of networking security, cryptography, and various functional use cases like audio/video streaming and file sharing.

Preferred Skills

• Experience building web-scale, container-based solutions using Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with AWS Cloud Computing.
• Experience using Agile development processes.
