Description

Lead database administration and performance tuning for large-scale, high-transaction SQL Server environments.

This role is hybrid.

Responsibilities

• Lead performance tuning efforts across high-volume SQL Server environments.
• Analyze and optimize SQL queries, indexes, and database configurations for responsiveness.
• Manage core DBA functions, including installation, upgrades, backup/recovery, and Always On.
• Participate in 24/7 production support call rotation and capacity planning.
• Develop and maintain documentation on database performance best practices.

Required Skills

• 10+ years of hands-on experience as a SQL Server DBA in enterprise settings.
• Proven experience supporting high-transaction systems (e-commerce, banking, or financial services).
• Advanced knowledge of SQL Server tools: SSMS, SSIS, SSRS, Always On.
• Strong understanding of database file structures, access methods, and performance analysis.
• Experience with performance monitoring using tools like Query Store or Profiler.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex database performance issues.
• Familiarity with application/database interaction and optimization strategies.
• Experience with SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, BigQuery.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Python and Java in database contexts.
