Description

Design, manage, and optimize SQL Server databases with a focus on Microsoft Azure cloud solutions, ensuring performance, security, and governance.

This role is hybrid.

Responsibilities

• Design and deploy SQL Server databases on-premises and in Azure, including Azure SQL Database and Managed Instance.
• Optimize performance through query tuning, index management, and resource optimization.
• Implement data security measures such as encryption, Azure Active Directory authentication, and RBAC.
• Establish data governance frameworks for classification, lineage tracking, and metadata management.
• Develop backup and high-availability strategies using Azure Blob Storage, Azure Backup, and Always On Availability Groups.

Required Skills

• 10+ years of experience in SQL Server administration and database management.
• Strong proficiency in T-SQL and secure, governed database design.
• Deep knowledge of data security practices and governance principles.
• Expertise in Azure security tools like Azure Defender and Key Vault.
• Familiarity with Azure governance tools such as Azure Purview.
• Experience with PowerShell scripting for automation and management.
• Proven track record leading migrations from on-premises SQL Server to Azure.

Preferred Skills

• Microsoft certifications (Azure Database Administrator Associate, Data Management and Analytics, or Security/Compliance Fundamentals).
• Experience with Azure Data Lake and Azure Synapse Analytics.
