Description

You will lead the design and authentication of outdoor substation packages for voltage levels from 25kV to 765kV.

This role is on-site.

Responsibilities

• Complete substation design packages including layouts, plot plans, bus elevations, ground grids, and control/power cable layouts.
• Perform engineering calculations for grounding, lightning, lighting, AC/DC load studies, and insulation coordination.
• Develop equipment specifications and review vendor documentation for constructability and compliance.
• Manage bills of materials for outdoor installations and ensure designs meet project scopes and client requirements.
• Mentor junior team members and assist in maintaining internal engineering standards and work practices.

Required Skills

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in electrical substation design specifically for the North American Market.
• Working knowledge of IEEE, NESC, NEC, CEC, and NFPA codes and standards.
• Proficiency in grounding, lightning, and lighting studies.
• Experience with station service transformer and battery bank sizing.
• Strong foundation in electrical theory and mathematics.
• Ability to manage multiple technical issues and project requirements simultaneously.
