Description

Own end-to-end technical accountability for Sybase ASE and IQ platforms, serving as the final escalation point for critical production incidents.

This role is on-site.

Responsibilities

• Lead L3 production support, conducting root cause analysis and implementing permanent fixes for high-severity incidents.
• Install, configure, and upgrade Sybase ASE instances, managing HA/DR, replication, and security auditing.
• Administer Sybase IQ data warehouse environments, optimizing index strategies, ETL processes, and analytical query performance.
• Plan and execute major changes, including version upgrades, storage migrations, and DR drills with full rollback strategies.
• Develop automation scripts for monitoring and health checks while mentoring L1/L2 DBAs and maintaining operational runbooks.

Required Skills

• 8+ years of experience as a Sybase Database Administrator.
• Deep expertise in Sybase ASE architecture, administration, and advanced performance tuning (cache, memory, tempdb, I/O).
• Strong proficiency in Sybase IQ administration, including HG, LF, and bitmap index optimization.
• Hands-on experience with backup, recovery, and Disaster Recovery strategies using Replication Server.
• Proficiency in SQL and Unix/Linux shell scripting for automation and maintenance.
• Experience supporting SAP applications on Sybase is highly valued.

Preferred Skills

• SAP Sybase ASE or IQ certifications.
• Exposure to cloud or hybrid infrastructure environments.
