Description

Manage and automate large-scale infrastructure migrations from on-premises data centers to AWS cloud environments.

Responsibilities

• Execute Puppet migrations across multiple versions, moving from version 3 through to the newest releases.
• Configure and maintain web, database, and OS server platforms including Linux, Apache, and MySQL.
• Collaborate with development teams to identify and implement automation within appropriate workflows.
• Manage large clusters and highly available infrastructure using declarative configuration management.
• Debug and troubleshoot complex system configurations and resource dependencies.

Required Skills

• 7+ years of experience as a Systems Engineer, Automation Engineer, or Infrastructure Automation Engineer.
• Recent professional experience working within the Academia industry (University or College).
• Deep expertise in Puppet, specifically managing migrations from version 3 to version 6 and newer.
• Advanced knowledge of Puppet manifests, resource dependencies, and split Puppet Master architecture.
• Strong Linux administration skills covering Red Hat versions 6 through 8.
• Proficiency in scripting languages including Shell, Python, Perl, or Ruby.
• Hands-on experience with Apache and MySQL server configuration.
• Experience using revision control systems such as Git or SVN.
• Proven track record of managing infrastructure in cloud or virtualized environments.

Preferred Skills

• Knowledge of distributed and enterprise applications.
