Description

Responsibilities

  • Administer and support Windows Server and Linux operating systems, including user administration, file systems, software, and services
  • Configure and manage server storage RAID configurations
  • Manage Active Directory environments, including backup, recovery, domain administration, and Group Policy setup
  • Design and implement VMware vSphere and Nutanix environments
  • Lead hypervisor migration projects, including VMware to Nutanix AHV migration using industry best practices
  • Deploy and manage Nutanix clusters
  • Perform Nutanix cluster administration and provide technical support
  • Troubleshoot fundamental networking concepts including DHCP, DNS, routing, and firewall configuration
  • Apply security principles, access control lists (ACL), and encryption standards
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts using PowerShell, bash, ksh, or Perl
  • Monitor system health and performance, identify bottlenecks, and lead optimization initiatives
  • Plan and execute disaster recovery procedures, including backup and restore operations for systems, applications, and data
  • Manage patch and firmware installation and updates across infrastructure
  • Perform off-hours and on-call support for server and system-related issues, including travel to supported sites as needed
  • Produce technical documentation on solutions and system design
  • Physically lift and transport server equipment when required
  • Work overtime and adjust hours to accommodate emergencies and scheduled maintenance outside standard business hours

Qualifications

  • Required
    • In-depth knowledge of Nutanix Hypervisor migration best practices
    • Knowledge of Nutanix cluster deployment
    • Design and implementation experience with VMware vSphere and Nutanix environments
    • Proven experience managing Nutanix clusters
    • Nutanix administration experience
    • Nutanix support specialist-level knowledge
    • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Information Technology, with a minimum of 5 years of IT Support experience
    • Strong organizational and detail-oriented approach with the ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Strong technical knowledge of computing platforms including servers, networks, and storage
    • Scripting experience for automation tasks
    • Ability to travel to various supported locations
  • Preferred
    • In-depth knowledge of VMware Hypervisor migration to Nutanix AHV
    • Understanding of baselining using Industrial Defender
    • Knowledge of Darksite patching for Nutanix Hypervisor and other hypervisor components
    • Knowledge of NERC CIP compliance and its impact on datacenter best practices
    • Ability to interpret, modify, and write scripts and SQL queries
    • Experience with advanced automation scripts
