Description

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement VMware vSphere and Nutanix environments
  • Manage and administer Nutanix clusters
  • Lead hypervisor migration projects, including VMware to Nutanix AHV migrations
  • Perform Nutanix cluster deployment
  • Execute patch and firmware installation and management
  • Conduct disaster recovery planning and perform backup and restore operations for systems, applications, and data
  • Monitor system health and performance, identify bottlenecks, and lead optimization efforts
  • Manage Windows Server and Linux operating systems, including user administration, file systems, software, and services
  • Administer Active Directory, including backup and recovery of domain and Group Policy Object setup
  • Configure and troubleshoot fundamental networking concepts including DHCP, DNS, routing, and firewalls
  • Apply security principles including ACL and encryption
  • Create and maintain system and solution design documentation
  • Provide off-hours on-call support for server and system-related issues, including travel to supported sites as needed
  • Transport and lift server equipment when needed
  • Work overtime and maintain flexible hours to respond to emergencies and scheduled work outside normal business hours

Qualifications

  • Required
    • Valid driver's license
    • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Information Technology, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in IT Support
    • In-depth knowledge of Nutanix Hypervisor migration best practices
    • Knowledge of Nutanix cluster deployment
    • Design and implementation experience with VMware vSphere and Nutanix environments
    • Managed Nutanix clusters
    • Nutanix administration experience
    • Nutanix support specialist experience
    • Proficiency with Windows Server and Linux operating systems
    • Understanding of servers and RAID storage configuration
    • Active Directory management skills
    • In-depth knowledge of VMware hypervisor migration to Nutanix AHV hypervisor
    • Fundamental networking concepts and troubleshooting (DHCP, DNS, routing, firewall)
    • Fundamental understanding of security principles, ACL, and encryption
    • Scripting proficiency in PowerShell, bash, ksh, or Perl
    • Experience with disaster recovery planning and backup/restore operations
    • Patch and firmware installation and management experience
    • Ability to work offsite at various company locations
    • Ability to lift and transport server equipment
    • Willingness to work flexible hours and on-call support including off-hours and emergencies
  • Preferred
    • Experience with monitoring system health and performance
    • Understanding of baselining and Industrial Defender
    • Knowledge of darksite patching for Nutanix hypervisor and components
    • Knowledge of NERC CIP compliance and its impact on datacenter best practices
    • Ability to interpret, modify, and write scripts and SQL queries
    • Automation scripting experience
