Description

You will design and implement core software for network forwarding and routing.

This role is remote.

Responsibilities

• Write functional and design specifications for internet and cloud data center traffic forwarding features.
• Implement solutions for small-sized problems in EOS software using C, C++, and Python.
• Develop and implement automated test programs and debug issues identified by automated tests.
• Collaborate on implementing, testing, and debugging solutions for larger routing protocol problems.
• Analyze customer and system test issues with Support/Test Engineers, delivering fixes via patches or new releases.

Required Skills

• 8+ years of experience with C, C++, and Python.
• Proficiency with UNIX or Linux environments.
• Understanding of IP routing protocols (RIP, OSPF, BGP, IS-IS).
• Ability to utilize, test, and debug packet forwarding engine and vendor software libraries.
• Experience with infrastructure functions in distributed systems (messaging, signalling, databases).
• Applied understanding of software engineering principles.
• Strong problem-solving and software troubleshooting skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience mentoring junior engineers and contributing reviews to team specifications and code.
