Description

Service Technician for diesel-electric locomotives and single-level coaches in Oakland, CA.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and analyze failures on locomotives and coaches using subsystem software and laptops.
• Perform electrical and mechanical repairs using mechanical drawings, schematics, and location circuit plans.
• Diagnose electrical malfunctions in control circuits and identify necessary corrective actions.
• Implement Field Modifications (FMIs) to improve product quality and reliability.
• Document failures, part exchanges, and completed work in the commissioning and warranty database.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of relevant experience in locomotive or heavy equipment maintenance.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and circuit plans.
• Hands-on experience with shop machines and hand tools.
• Proficiency in using laptops with subsystem software for diagnostics.
• Experience with RMA processes, including receiving and sending failed parts for repair.
• Strong technical communication skills for reporting root cause analysis to site leads.
• Valid driver's license in good standing.
• Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
