Description

You will design and implement end-to-end SQL Server monitoring in New Relic and integrate it with ServiceNow to drive operational efficiency.

This role is on-site.

Responsibilities

• Design and deploy New Relic dashboards, alerts, and synthetic checks for SQL Server infrastructure.
• Integrate New Relic events with ServiceNow to create high-quality incidents with correct CI association, priority, and routing.
• Perform map/gap analysis to replace SCOM with New Relic, ensuring equivalent or improved coverage and supporting decommissioning.
• Ingest relevant SQL metrics from SolarWinds/Nagios and build logic for deduplication, escalation, and CI assignment.
• Produce runbooks, document monitoring SLAs, and participate in on-call rotations and knowledge transfer.

Required Skills

• 6+ years hands-on experience with New Relic (APM, Infrastructure, NRQL, dashboards) and SQL Server monitoring.
• ServiceNow integration experience using Flow Designer, Workflows, REST APIs, and IntegrationHub.
• Solid SQL Server administration or developer background, understanding performance metrics, services, and failure modes.
• Scripting skills in JavaScript and PowerShell for integration, enrichment, and automation.
• Experience with requirements gathering, gap analysis, and documenting operational processes.
• Ability to validate accuracy, troubleshoot integration failures, and map CIs in ServiceNow.
• Strong collaboration skills to work across infrastructure, DBA, and support teams.

Preferred Skills

• Experience replacing or migrating from SCOM to a modern observability platform.
• ServiceNow or New Relic certifications.
