Description

Own database and application reliability, incident management, and monitoring strategy on Linux infrastructure.

This role is on-site.

Responsibilities

• Lead incident management, on-call coordination, and post-incident RCA sharing for database and application reliability.
• Own monitoring and alerting strategy using Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, and CloudWatch to reduce noise and improve MTTR.
• Support database administration including performance tuning, indexing, query optimization, backup, recovery, and security controls.
• Drive disaster recovery and high availability planning, validating backup/restore and failover readiness across environments.
• Troubleshoot slow queries, deadlocks, resource contention, and infrastructure issues on Linux systems.

Required Skills

• 6-12 years of experience in SRE, cloud operations, or database/infrastructure reliability.
• Hands-on experience with AWS and Azure for reliability, monitoring, and operational support.
• Site Reliability Engineering practices including SLA, SLI, SLO, and error budgets.
• Database administration and performance tuning (query optimization, indexing, troubleshooting) with backup and recovery ownership.
• Linux and shell scripting for operational automation, log analysis, and incident troubleshooting.
• Proficiency in Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation.
• Experience with infrastructure as code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Observability stack experience (ELK stack) and monitoring tools.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, or MS SQL Server.
• Knowledge of Kubernetes and containers.
