Description

Design, deploy, and operate production-grade Confluent Kafka platforms on AWS, ensuring high availability and secure data streaming.

This role is on-site.

Responsibilities

• Engineer and manage cloud-native workloads on Amazon EKS, handling cluster configuration, scaling, and operational support.
• Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and AWS CloudFormation for repeatable and compliant resource provisioning.
• Design and operate event-driven architectures using Confluent Kafka, Kafka Streams, and Schema Registry for real-time processing.
• Develop automation and operational tooling using Python, Bash, or Go to support CI/CD integration and diagnostics.
• Implement multi-region architectures with active-active or active-passive models to meet disaster recovery objectives.

Required Skills

• Hands-on expertise with Confluent Kafka ecosystem including brokers, Connect, ksqlDB, and REST Proxy.
• Deep working knowledge of Kubernetes primitives, StatefulSets, operators, and persistent volumes.
• Strong understanding of AWS core services (EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, EKS, CloudWatch, Route53).
• Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code tools: Terraform and AWS CloudFormation.
• Strong coding capability in Python, Bash, or Go with a focus on clean, testable code.
• Experience with containerization standards using Docker and Amazon ECR.
• Familiarity with GitLab, DevSecOps pipelines, and secure CI/CD practices.
• Experience with contract testing (PACT), unit testing (JUnit), and performance testing (JMeter).

Preferred Skills

• Experience with AI-assisted engineering practices using tools like Claude Code, GitLab Duo, or Copilot.
• Knowledge of mutation testing and data-driven decision making for engineering discipline.
