Description

Lead the migration of legacy COBOL mainframe systems to modern Java-based architectures.

This role is remote.

Responsibilities

• Migrate legacy COBOL applications to Java, analyzing and redesigning complex systems.
• Develop and maintain mission-critical enrollment system applications in both COBOL and Java environments.
• Design, implement, and integrate RESTful and SOA web services using Spring Boot and Spring MVC.
• Create, test, and document critical application programs, including unit and integration tests with JUnit and TestNG.
• Collaborate within an Agile/Scrum team to define system scope, break down requirements, and ensure timely delivery.

Required Skills

• 8+ years of software development experience.
• Strong proficiency in Java, specifically Spring Core, Spring Boot, Spring MVC, and Spring Integration.
• Extensive experience with legacy mainframe technologies: COBOL, CICS, JCL, TSO/ISPF, ChangeMan, and Topaz.
• Proven track record of application development and debugging in complex environments.
• Experience with web services (RESTful/SOA) and API management.
• Familiarity with Git/BitBucket for version control.
• Practical experience in Agile or Scrum methodologies.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with health insurance customer systems.
• Hands-on experience with API management tools.
