Description

- Design, develop and maintain scalable Kotlin/Spring Boot backend services and workflow runtime components. - Build APIs and platform services that support long-running, asynchronous and distributed business workflows. - Implement reliable execution patterns including idempotency, retries, timeout handling, compensation, failure recovery and safe reprocessing. - Develop event-driven integrations using Kafka and REST APIs. Temporal / Workflow Orchestration - Design and implement durable workflows using Temporal.io, including Workflows, Activities, Signals and Queries. - Ensure workflow code is deterministic and replay-safe, and design versioning strategies for workflows running across software releases. - Build reusable workflow components, execution controls, state management and operational tooling for production environments. - Diagnose workflow failures and improve runtime resiliency, observability and recoverability. Platform, Data & Cloud - Integrate workflow services with PostgreSQL, NoSQL stores and enterprise APIs. - Containerize and deploy services using Docker and Kubernetes on cloud platforms. - Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automated tests, quality gates and deployment controls. - Implement logging, metrics, tracing, dashboards and alerts for production runtime services. Engineering Leadership - Own software delivery from design through production support. - Participate in architecture and design reviews, code reviews and technical decision making. - Mentor engineers and promote clean code, testing, security, reliability and operational excellence. - Collaborate with product, architecture, QA, DevOps and platform teams to translate requirements into maintainable technical solutions. AI Enablement - Preferred - Support integration of LLM/agent workloads with durable workflow execution where applicable, including tool invocation, human-in-the-loop steps and reliable orchestration. ESSENTIAL_SKILLS "8+ years of software engineering experience with strong hands-on backend development. Strong production experience with Kotlin/JVM and Spring Boot. Experience building distributed workflow/orchestration platforms and production-grade runtime services. Kotlin / JVM - Strong hands-on Kotlin development, including coroutines, null safety, collections, functional programming, and Java interoperability. - Strong Java fundamentals and experience with modern JVM applications. Spring Boot & Backend Engineering - Spring Boot, Spring Framework, Spring Data JPA/Hibernate and REST APIs. - Microservices and distributed systems design with API-first architecture. - Strong understanding of concurrency, asynchronous processing, idempotency, retries, timeouts, failure handling, and resilient service design. Workflow Runtime / Orchestration - Strong production experience with Temporal.io is highly preferred. - Hands-on knowledge of durable workflows, Activities, Signals, Queries, retries, workflow state, replay-safe/deterministic execution, long-running processes, and failure recovery. - Experience with workflow/orchestration technologies such as Temporal, AWS Step Functions, Camunda, Airflow or equivalent is relevant, but Temporal experience is preferred. Messaging & Data - Kafka or equivalent event-driven messaging platform. - PostgreSQL and strong SQL skills; exposure to MongoDB/Redis or other NoSQL technologies. - Experience designing transaction-safe, idempotent and auditable distributed processing. Cloud, Containers & DevOps - Docker, Kubernetes and CI/CD pipelines. - AWS / GCP / Azure cloud experience. - GitHub Actions / Jenkins; Terraform is preferred. - Observability using Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus, ELK or equivalent. Testing & Engineering Quality - JUnit, Mockito and integration testing. - Testcontainers or equivalent container-based integration testing is preferred. - Contract-first API development and contract testing experience is preferred. AI / Modern Engineering - Preferred - Exposure to AI/LLM application runtimes, AI agents, RAG, tool calling, LangChain/LangGraph or similar frameworks is a plus. - Ability to integrate AI-driven workloads into secure, reliable enterprise backend platforms."
