Description

Lead and evolve the API strategy, defining standards and guiding implementation for secure, scalable API ecosystems.

This role is remote.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to API Work Groups to define and evolve API standards and practices.
• Guide and mentor development teams on API design, implementation, and integration patterns.
• Lead the design and implementation of API Gateway solutions.
• Establish and maintain comprehensive API observability, including logging, tracing, and alerting.
• Define and implement API security strategies, covering authentication and data protection.

Required Skills

• 5+ years in an API Architect or similar senior technical role.
• Deep, hands-on experience with OpenAPI Specification (OAS).
• Expertise in API Gateway technologies, specifically OCI API Gateway or equivalents.
• Proficiency in CI/CD practices using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps.
• Experience implementing API observability using Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK.
• Proficiency in object-oriented programming languages, specifically Java or .NET.
• Practical experience with REST and GraphQL APIs.
• In-depth knowledge of API security standards (OAuth2, JWT, rate limiting).

Preferred Skills

• Experience contributing to external API Work Groups or industry standards bodies.
• Advanced mentoring skills for large, distributed engineering teams.
