Description

You will support the design, implementation, and maintenance of PostgreSQL databases to ensure high availability, performance, and data integrity.

This role is on-site.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of PostgreSQL databases and manage database objects including schemas, tables, indexes, and functions.
• Execute database migrations from Microsoft SQL Server to PostgreSQL using tools like pgloader or custom scripts, including rewriting T-SQL logic into PL/pgSQL.
• Manage backup and recovery operations using pg_basebackup, pg_dump, and pgBackRest, while participating in periodic restore drills.
• Monitor database health and performance using tools such as Prometheus and pgAdmin, and assist in troubleshooting long-running queries via EXPLAIN ANALYZE.
• Automate regular maintenance tasks like VACUUM and backups using Bash, SQL, or Python scripts.

Required Skills

• 0 to 5 years of experience working with PostgreSQL.
• Strong understanding of relational database concepts and pgSQL.
• Experience with PostgreSQL installation, configuration, security, and basic tuning.
• Ability to manage PostgreSQL roles, privileges, and role-based access controls (RBAC).
• Proficiency in writing Bash, SQL, or Python scripts for task automation.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for documenting processes and SOPs.

Preferred Skills

• Basic understanding of Microsoft SQL Server, T-SQL, Kubernetes, or Helm.
• Knowledge of PowerShell, Grafana, or Prometheus.
