Description

You will assess and optimize the current SQL Server environment, eliminating performance bottlenecks and ensuring scalable, high-availability infrastructure.

This role is on-site.

Responsibilities

• Conduct full environment assessments using Redgate, SQL Profiler, and DMVs to identify latency and blocking issues.
• Optimize stored procedures, indexes, and table structures, refactoring complex logic involving temp tables and dynamic SQL.
• Design and evaluate clustered or multi-instance SQL Server setups for failover redundancy and scalability.
• Tune configuration settings including MAXDOP, cost threshold for parallelism, and TempDB parameters.
• Document all findings, recommendations, and implemented changes for technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Required Skills

• Expert-level SQL Server performance tuning, including wait stats analysis and execution plan optimization.
• 5+ years of experience with SQL Server administration and Windows Server configuration.
• Strong background in indexing strategies, partitioning large datasets, and data archival policies.
• Experience with SQL Server clustering, AlwaysOn Availability Groups, or multi-instance configurations.
• Proficiency with monitoring and stress-testing tools such as Redgate, SQL Profiler, or LoadUI.
• Microsoft Certified in database-related exams (at least three 70-XXX exams).
• Familiarity with Windows Server administration, including CPU/memory tuning and security settings.
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.

Preferred Skills

• Experience suggesting hardware and VM configuration improvements for future workloads.
• Ability to present complex technical findings to non-technical stakeholders.
