Description

You will manage the performance, security, and availability of SQL databases in a remote capacity.

This role is remote.

Responsibilities

• Respond to database problems, user-reported errors, and troubleshooting requests in a timely manner.
• Execute periodic maintenance, including upgrades, backups, recovery, and migrations.
• Optimize in-application SQL statements and profile server resource usage to tweak performance.
• Protect databases against threats and unauthorized access while ensuring data recovery capabilities.
• Collaborate with IT project managers, database programmers, and stakeholders to design databases and plan resource requirements.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of experience in SQL database administration.
• Experience with modern relational databases and configuring popular database engines.
• Ability to orchestrate clusters and manage large, complicated SQL statements.
• Proficiency with code versioning tools such as GitLab.
• Experience with SSIS packages.
• Knowledge of best practices for relational databases and resource profiling tools.
• Strong verbal communication skills for liaising with technical and non-technical teams.
• Ability to prepare documentation, specifications, and usage metrics reports.
