Position Details

• Title: Sr. AI Engineer – Fixed Income
• Location: New York, NY – 1633 Broadway
• Work Model: Hybrid – 3 days/week onsite
• Experience: 15+ years
• Interview: In-person interview is mandatory

Must-Have Skills

• Strong hands-on experience coding in Python
• Strong Core AI experience
• Hands-on Generative AI and Agentic AI experience
• Strong understanding of how LLMs work, information extraction, prompt engineering, grounding, context management, and output validation
• Practical experience building applications using Python, OpenAI, Claude Agent SDK, or comparable LLM APIs
• Strong RAG experience and understanding of what is required to design and implement RAG solutions
• Experience with Agentic AI frameworks, MCP integrations, orchestration, and agentic workflows
• Experience building AI/data-driven applications using APIs, databases, cloud services, and enterprise data sources
• Experience working with both structured and unstructured data
• Experience building and working with complex systems and applications
• Strong understanding of AI evaluation, hallucination mitigation, accuracy, relevance, and compliance
• Financial Services experience strongly preferred
• Fixed Income experience/knowledge is a major plus — understanding of stocks, bonds, trading workflows, etc.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills
• Curious mindset with the ability to understand business problems and translate them into practical AI solutions

Key Responsibilities

• Work directly with Fixed Income teams in New York to understand business workflows, pain points, data availability, and AI opportunities.
• Partner with traders, sales, research, operations, risk, compliance, and technology stakeholders.
• Translate business requirements into AI-enabled solutions.
• Design, prototype, and build Generative AI and Agentic AI applications using Python, OpenAI/Claude or comparable LLM APIs.
• Develop solutions using prompt engineering, MCP integrations, orchestration, RAG, and agentic workflows.
• Build AI solutions supporting knowledge retrieval, workflow automation, document analysis, trade support, client intelligence, operational exception handling, and management reporting.
• Build retrieval pipelines across structured and unstructured enterprise data.
• Develop prompt strategies to improve model accuracy, consistency, explainability, and user trust.
• Design evaluation frameworks to test AI outputs for accuracy, completeness, hallucination risk, relevance, and compliance.
• Work with technology and control teams on security, data privacy, auditability, access control, and model governance.
• Clearly communicate technical trade-offs to engineering and business stakeholders.
• Gather user feedback and continuously improve AI workflows.
• Identify reusable AI patterns, accelerators, and components that can scale across financial-services use cases.

Project: DocCentral

The team is working on DocCentral, an enterprise platform that houses different types of internal Morgan Stanley documents, including:

• Contracts
• Company quarterly and annual filings
• Sensitive deal information
• Research and business documents
• Other internal knowledge repositories

The platform is expanding across multiple businesses, including Fixed Income, GCM, Prime Brokerage, and other groups.

The AI engineering team works directly with these businesses to understand what information they need to extract from documents, where the extracted information fits within their workflows, and how AI can improve their processes.

The work includes:

Business Requirement → Data/Example Collection → AI Prototype → POC → Business Validation → Production

This is a highly hands-on engineering opportunity where you will work closely with business teams while building practical GenAI, RAG, document intelligence, and Agentic AI solutions.
