Description

You will lead the re-engineering of mainframe batch jobs into equivalent ETL processes using AWS Glue, supporting a major modernization initiative for a federal customer.

This role is on-site.

Responsibilities

• Design and code Glue ETL PySpark jobs, SQL queries, Lambda functions, and Step Functions to process large datasets.
• Re-engineer legacy mainframe batch jobs into cloud-native AWS solutions, ensuring performance and adherence to coding standards.
• Develop automated deployment pipelines using CodeCommit, CodeBuild, CodePipeline, and AWS CloudFormation.
• Collaborate with architecture and infrastructure teams to define requirements, coordinate service needs, and review designs.
• Document design specifications and lead end-to-end testing for all deliverables across the software development lifecycle.

Required Skills

• 8-12 years of experience (or 6-10 with a Master’s) in software development with strong ETL focus.
• Proficiency in AWS Glue Studio, PySpark, and Python.
• Experience with relational databases, specifically PostgreSQL.
• Hands-on experience with AWS DevOps tools: CodeCommit, CodeBuild, CodePipeline.
• Strong understanding of the full software development lifecycle, including scope estimation, architecture, and deployment.
• Familiarity with issue tracking (Jira) and documentation (Confluence).
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.

Preferred Skills

• Knowledge of DB2, JCL, COBOL COPYBOOKs, and EBCDIC character formats.
• Experience with mainframe modernization projects and Linux bash scripting.
