Description

You will lead mainframe systems modernization by re-engineering batch jobs into cloud-native AWS Glue ETL processes for a federal customer.

This role is on-site.

Responsibilities

• Design and code Glue jobs using PySpark and Python to extract, transform, and load large datasets.
• Implement solutions involving AWS Lambda, Step Functions, and REST API calls within a DevOps framework.
• Automate deployments using CodeCommit, CodeBuild, CodePipeline, and AWS CloudFormation.
• Coordinate with mainframe resources and infrastructure teams to define requirements and resolve technical dependencies.
• Document design specifications and conduct end-to-end testing to ensure performance and reliability.

Required Skills

• 8-12 years of relevant experience (or Master’s with 6-10 years).
• Strong proficiency in PySpark and Python for ETL development.
• Hands-on experience with AWS Glue Studio and serverless cloud services.
• Experience with relational databases, specifically PostgreSQL.
• Familiarity with AWS DevOps tools: CodeCommit, CodeBuild, CodePipeline.
• Proficiency in JIRA and Confluence for tracking and documentation.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field.

Preferred Skills

• Knowledge of DB2, JCL, COBOL COPYBOOK, and EBCDIC character formats.
• Experience with mainframe modernization initiatives.
