Description

You will lead the migration from a monolithic database to a modern, cloud-native platform, focusing on schema conversion and data migration to PostgreSQL.

Responsibilities

• Lead schema conversion and data migration from legacy databases (Sybase, Oracle, SQL Server) to PostgreSQL.
• Design and execute migration strategies and workflows to ensure data integrity, performance, and reliability.
• Provision and manage databases on AWS RDS and Aurora PostgreSQL.
• Collaborate with Solutions Architects, DevOps, and CloudOps teams to define migration requirements.
• Implement secure database access and authentication mechanisms.

Required Skills

• 10+ years of experience in database engineering or related fields.
• Strong expertise in database design, schema conversion, and data migration.
• Hands-on production experience with AWS RDS PostgreSQL.
• Proficiency in Python and shell scripting for automation.
• Experience with migration tools such as AWS DMS or Flyway.
• Knowledge of secure database access and authentication mechanisms.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL, instance sizing, backup, and high availability.
• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform and CloudFormation.
• Experience with CI/CD and DevOps practices.
