Sr. Data Modeler

Job Title: Sr. Data Modeler
Location: Baltimore, MD
Duration: Long Term Contract

Your future duties and responsibilities:
·        Perform critical activities, such as data synthesis, data mining and analysis using various industry methods, in addition to creating algorithms and running simulations.
·        Provide Business Intelligence (BI) and data visualization support, which includes, but limited to support for the online customer service dashboards and other ad-hoc requests requiring data analysis and visual support.
·        Improve capabilities to increase program maturity, analytics based decision making, and tools and techniques critical to program execution.
·        Support the development of queries, views, and customer feedback data explorations to aid in decision making by using one or a combination of the following: SAS, Tableau, Webfocus8, Microsoft SQL server, Toad.
·        Create logical and physical data models using best practices to ensure high data quality and reduced redundancy.
·        Define indicators of performance and quality metrics.
·        Design, Develop, Publish, Test and Troubleshoot Dashboards and Data Sources
·        Optimize/update logical and physical data models to support the new requirements. Maintain conceptual, logical and physical data models along with corresponding metadata.
·        Evaluate data models and physical databases for variances and discrepancies. Validate business data objects for accuracy and completeness.
·        Develop data models according to best practices.
·        Background in Mathematics or Statistics. More specifically should be able to model datasets using linear and non-linear regression.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role
·        Masters degree and 8+ years of work experience OR BS/BA and 14+ years of experience
·        Experience: 2-5 years’ experience in data modeling principles/methods including conceptual, logical & physical Data Models.
·        6-8 years of experience in performing Data Modeling in an enhancement and maintenance environment
·        Experience creating and reading logical and physical data models
·        Experience performing data quality activities and documenting issues (data profiling, data mining, etc.)
·        Experience tracking data lineage from source to target (Identifying authoritative data)
·        Experience analyzing and documenting data flows
·        Good written and oral communication skills
·        Experience with Oracle PL/SQL and SQL Server database is a nice to have
·        Desired: Knowledge of metadata management, data modeling, and related tools (Erwin or ER Studio or others)
·        Prior experience with PostgeSQL is preferred
·        Data Modeler Tools: Excel, SAS, erwin, ER/Studio, or any native DB modeling tools SQL DB Diagrams, MySQL Workbench etc.
