Description

You will manage and optimize DB2 for z/OS environments, ensuring system stability and performance through proactive monitoring and maintenance.

This role is hybrid.

Responsibilities

• Monitor system storage, memory, I/O, and CPU resources to design and implement performance improvements.
• Perform software upgrades and maintenance using SMP/E, IBMLINK, and ShopZSeries for IBM and BMC products.
• Drive root cause analysis for DB2 software problems, coordinating with IBM and ISV vendor support teams.
• Manage DB2 subsystems, including catalogs, bufferpools, zparms, PROCS, RLF, and RTS, and build or relocate subsystems as required.
• Automate preventative and corrective measures by writing REXX scripts and maintain technical documentation via ServiceNow.

Required Skills

• 10+ years of experience as a DB2 for z/OS Systems Programmer.
• Deep expertise in DB2 for z/OS, IMS, RDX, and DS.
• Proficiency with SMP/E for applying software fixes and PTFs.
• Experience managing DB2 Data Sharing and native XML features.
• Hands-on experience with BMC tools: Catalog Mgr, Change Mgr, Log Master, and MainView for DB2.
• Experience with Compuware File-Aid for DB2 and Query Manager.
• Ability to diagnose performance issues related to data distribution, cardinality, and join structures.
• Competency in using ServiceNow for change control and incident management.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with IBM DB2 Connect.
• Knowledge of Mainframe/DB2 secure transfers.
