Description

Lead database migration, modernization, and consolidation from on-premises environments to the cloud. Own the full lifecycle of database architecture, performance tuning, and production stability.

Responsibilities

• Assess database structures, data sizes, RTO, and RPO values to determine migration feasibility.
• Design database blueprints, cutover strategies, and sizing models based on customer requirements.
• Configure, tune, and optimize database performance and multi-node cluster resiliency.
• Implement data lifecycle management and backup patterns using economical long-term cold storage.
• Resolve production issues related to database stability and security.

Required Skills

• 7+ years of experience in database design and management.
• 5+ years of experience with SQL databases including Postgres, Postgres EDB, MySQL, and Oracle.
• 3+ years of experience with SQL Server.
• 2+ years of experience with MongoDB or similar NoSQL databases.
• 2+ years of experience managing multi-node clusters with datasets exceeding 100 TB.
• Proven track record of delivering at least 2 migration projects from on-premises to cloud for datasets >20 TB.
• Experience with AWS RDS, AWS-hosted databases, Azure SQL Server PaaS, and Azure-hosted databases.
• Experience with CockroachDB, Yugabyte, Lucene index databases (e.g., Elasticsearch), and VectorDB implementations.
• Experience with memory cache solutions such as Redis.

Preferred Skills

• Strong knowledge of database security, encryption, and best practices.
